Firm tannins and a core of minerality provide a stunning framework for the rich blackberry fruit flavors that fill the palate of this low-yielding hillside Napa Valley Cabernet. We don't make much, and this single-vineyard star promises to gain added richness with time!

The 2016 Element 28 Cabernet Sauvignon presents ample notes of plum and blackberry fruits, surrounded by clove, vanilla, and cardamom. The refined composition of fine-grained tannins and pure dark fruit flavors, with a subtle earthiness and a wonderful natural acidity, form an exceptionally balanced profile that render this wine enjoyable now and for many years to come.
Element 28 is named after the owner of the vineyard, Erik Nickel, who ingeniously came up with the name Element 28, which is “nickel” on the periodic table. Located high in the hills across from Lake Henessey, this vineyard has a nice western exposure, comprised of shallow, gravelly loam soils which produce small vines with loose clusters and small berries. Three different clones offer a variety of concentrated fruit flavors that are hallmarks of this hillside vineyard.
