The 2017 Martin Stelling Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon exudes opulence, possessing aromas of dark blackberry and cassis that are also mirrored on the palate with underlying notes of chocolate and spice. Well-structured and compelling, this wine has a richness and volume on the palate that extends from start to finish.
The Martin Stelling Vineyard is located at the base of the western hills in Oakville and is the primary vineyard for Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon. Nickel & Nickel is fortunate to farm two acres of this vineyard. The soils are composed of deep volcanic loam with underlying clay and gravel.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Martin Stelling Vineyard offers expressive creme de cassis, black cherry compote and plum preserves with hints of menthol, underbrush, cedar chest and garrigue plus wafts of bay leaves. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm with muscular black fruits and savory sparks framed by chewy tannins, finishing with a mineral tinge. - Lisa Perotti-Brown
