Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Aromas of mixed berry, chocolate, light earth and licorice lead into a full entry, with mixed berry flavors, a velvety mid-palate and a great backbone of coating, age-able tannin. Mouthwatering plum and blackberry flavors follow all the way through to the end. Layers of toasted oak are well integrated, adding structure and support to the ripe fruit flavors.
Vineyard Notes
The Martin Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville, is the
cornerstone of Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted on some of the most beautiful,
gravelly loam soil in the Napa Valley, the vineyard uniformly produces wines
with supple tannins, bright, forward fruit, and beautiful tannin structure.
Production Notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Bottled is blended 95.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.25% Petit Verdot and .25% Malbec. Deep purple-black colored, it has pronounced black currant pastilles, black cherry compote and red currant preserves notes with touches of dried herbs, unsmoked cigars and fallen leaves plus a waft of cedar. Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm texture of grainy tannins and oodles of freshness supporting the muscular black fruit, finishing with an herbal lift. - Lisa Perotti-Brown
