A vintage that keeps evolving beautifully, the concentrated black cherry, spice and tobacco aromas this Cabernet possessed upon release are now soft and silky, followed by layered berry flavors and a long finish.
September 12 - October 17, 2002
20 months in French oak (94% new, 6% once-used)
Very concentrated aromas of black cherry, plum and huckleberry deepen to black currant, spice, tobacco
and dusty, toasted oak. The wine’s soft entry on the palate leads to notes of
licorice and black fruit, a dense mid palate and a rich and coating texture,
followed by a long and velvety finish.
The 100-acre Martin Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville,
is the cornerstone of Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted on some of the most
beautiful, gravelly loam soil in the Napa Valley, the vineyard uniformly produces
wines with supple tannins, bright, forward fruit, and beautiful tannin structure.
