Stelling Cabernet is a showy wine, both in the aromas and on the palate. The 2009 vintage has aromas of jammy, black fruits, chocolate and cedar. Similarflavors develop on the palate, including a medley of blackberry and cassis. The French oak pairs beautifully with the fruit, offering its own layers of spice, toast and vanilla. Layer upon layer, this wine offers an elegant structure with smooth, coating tannins that expand into a lingering finish.
The 100-acre Martin Stelling Vineyard is located at the base of the western hills
in Oakville and is the primary vineyard for Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon.
Nickel & Nickel is fortunate to farm two acres of this vineyard. The soils are
composed of deep volcanic loam with underlying clay and gravel.
