This hillside Cabernet gains depth and maturity with each vintage, and with its blackberry-cherry flavors and core of minerality, this fifth release elevates our expectations. We don't make much from this low-yielding vineyard, so early acquisition is key!

Production Notes
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Element 28 is scented of ripe blackberries, boysenberries and black currant pastilles with touches of dried Provence herbs, lavender, cigars, tilled soil and fallen leaves plus a waft of dried sage. Medium-bodied, the palate is tightly wound and taut with great tension and firm, grainy tannins, finishing long and earthy. - Lisa Perotti-Brown
Tasting Notes
The 2017 Element 28 Cabernet Sauvignon presents ample amounts of plum and blackberry fruits, surrounded by notes of clove, vanilla and cardamom. Delicious boysenberry and blackberry fruit flavors are supported by a firm core of tannin. Soft mineral notes add dimension to what promises to be an age-worthy wine.
Vineyard Notes
Element 28, Nickel in the Periodic Table, is an extraordinarily beautiful vineyard. Located high in the hills across from Lake Henessey, this vineyard has a nice western exposure, comprised of shallow, gravelly loam soils which produce small vines with loose clusters and small berries. Three different clones offer a variety of concentrated fruit flavors that are hallmarks of this hillside vineyard.
