Tasting Notes
A perfume of plum and blue fruits with whispers of dried herbs and lavender opens onto a full, fruit-forward entry. Lively acidity and mature hillside tannins frame the layers of generous fruit, while soft mineral notes and a hint of cacao lend a delicate quality to the generous mouthfeel. One of the most nuanced Cabernets of the vintage, the combination of hillside structure, ample fruit and delicate accents are hard to resist now yet promise to gain additional complexity with time.
Vineyard Notes
Element 28 is named after the owner of the vineyard, Erik Nickel, who ingeniously came up with the name Element 28, which is “nickel” on the periodic table. Located high in the hills across from Lake Henessey, this vineyard has a nice western exposure, comprised of shallow, gravelly loam soils which produce small vines with loose clusters and small berries. Three different clones offer a variety of concentrated fruit flavors that are hallmarks of this hillside vineyard.
